It's so hard - people who aren't animal minded just don't get it.
My dog, Midge, was only 6 when she was diagnosed with lymphoma (a type of cancer) She was only given 6 weeks from the diagnosis but we had her, pain free, for 4 months. We had to be brave and do what was required. It was the last thing we could do for her and she trusted us to look after her like we always had. I'm welling up just typing this and it's been 4 years.
There's something about a pet - dogs in particular. They love unconditionally and unless you've experienced that, you'll never know what we mean and how gutting it is to lose such a companion.
I have another 2 dogs now but Midge was...............can't think of a term; she just was...............
