Kathy Matea came pretty close on the "Good News" CD.
"There's a New Kid in Town" had already been recorded by George Strait but most of the others were not know or little known at that time, such as "Mary Did you Know?". That one may have been recorded by one of the writers, but I believe Kathy had the first release.
It was one of my favorite CD's at the time. And it was largely due to the fact that I had never heard most of the songs before.
But, . . . . . . to accomplish what Buble said he wanted to accomplish, you're going to have to have songs that will be all time Christmas standards, and that's tough to do. By the way, a Christmas standard is every songwriter's dream because it means royalites every year for the rest of your life.
