I walked down the hallway into my son's room and saw him sitting on the floor looking through the pages of "Twas a night before Christmas". He looked up and asked when Santa would be here next and when could we put up our tree. So, I explained to him that it wouldn't be for several more months. Of course, he just has to look up at me with his sad little puppy dog eyes and said "oh, ok" in a sad little voice.
Well, that just won't do.
I went straight to my kitchen, grabbed the holiday cookie cutters and whipped up some homemade sugar cookies, icing and all. Then, I went to my closest and found a small gift box and a huge red bow. So I wrapped up the cookies and put in on the kitchen table. Then, I went to the storage closet and found one of my little 18 inch tabletop christmas trees that I use to decorate with, and placed it on the table. I take a set of twinkle lights and hang them on my dining room chandelier for some drama, then I throw some christmas music on. Whew!
"Ohhh Aiden, come here please, Mama needs to talk to you"
He walks in and sees what I did and starts jumping up and down. I told him we were just going to have a little mini Christmas right here right now. He was thrilled!
So, I'm having a holly jolly afternoon watching The Polar Express with my little man and eating cookies. It doesn't get ny better than this!
