It is for my FIL! MIL does all the gift shopping before then, but FIL loves to go to the mall & buy one small thing for everyone. Starting in 2010, he now wraps each gift in a brown paper grocery bag, folds down the top, punches two holes, & ties it with twine. MIL writes our names on the bags with a Sharpie! He says that's his redneck wrapping paper!

DH & I went to the mall a couple of years on Christmas Eve & it wasn't too bad. We were just there to people watch as I try to finish Christmas shopping as early as possible. In pre-parenting years, I sometimes finished shopping before Thanksgiving. I'd love to do that now, but I don't have to time or money to do it all that soon!

DH & I have started a new tradition with DD. We have one local restaurant that stays open regular hours on Christmas Eve. We go there for dinner around 5 p.m., go to a friend's home to exchange gifts, then back home to watch Christmas movies, make treats for Santa, & throw reindeer food in the yard. However, this year Christmas Eve in on Monday & that restaurant is closed on Mondays. I think we'll be making chili & grilled cheese at home this year.
