Family: my mom loved Christmas, dad was okay with it; he enjoyed the fun and excitement his kids had. Also had an aunt who loved Christmas, and she decorated so beautifully for the season.
Music: Christmas music, to me, is the most beautiful music we have. So many songs resonated with me as a child, and they created Christmas within me, in some way. As I grew older a deeper appreciation has happened for the more obscure / religious songs (In the Bleak Midwinter and Past Three O'Clock being recent favorites). Most Christmas songs create a vision in my head / feeling in my heart that no other type of music does.
Media: being a kid in the 70s, it was magical. We were treated to some of the best specials and shows of the season. And, whenever one of the "classics" were on, you better make sure you watched it, or that was it until next year. So when shows like "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" or "Rudolph" were on back then, it was a special event - no watching them on DVD's whenever you wanted.
