Growing up we didnt do anything special on Christmas Eve.
When I got married and had kids we started making our own traditions. Dec 1st 2 little magic elves arrive and return to the North Pole the night of Dec 23 .... so Christmas Eve the kids will wake up to find 2 gifts each from their Elf friend either under their bed room tree or under the main Christmas Tree ... new PJs and an ornament. After breakfest the kids will exchange their gifts with each other and start tracking Santa. While they are playing with their new toy, hubby and I will be busy in the kitchen working on the dessert pies and the Christmas eve dinner. We host a few friends/family for Christmas eve dinner.
By the time we finish dinner, Santa will make his rounds through the neighborhood on the local Fire Truck and his helpers hand out candy canes to the kids who come out to see him. The kids love listening for the fire truck sirens.
That night we will snuggle up withthe kids and watch a Christmas movie. Before bed the kids will track Santa one final time before placing put milk and cookies. Once they are tucked into bed, hubby reads to them the Twas the Night Before Christmas and a childs version book of the First Christmas.
