tree Cutting down the tree

Anyone have a funny or interesting experience cutting down their own Christmas tree?

We always had an artificial tree but this one Christmas we needed a new tree and decided to get a real tree. My kids were staying with my parents so it was just hubby and me.
Well, it was snowy and icy (need I say more, LOL)

We went to a place where you could cut down your own tree and it was in the woods.

You don't get good traction on ice. And I was walking then all of the sudden my feet went out from under me and yes I landed on the part that I sit on. Needless to say it put a hurt on me. And to top it off when my kids seen the tree they were not happy. They did not like having a real tree. What I went through to get their tree and they were not happy. I do admit I did not like having a real tree that year and never had one since.
But at least my kids got to experience having a real tree. They all have artificial trees.

We have never had a real tree but my sister gets one now that she is married . They always by it from a church that sells them already cut and bundled. They did have one fall off the car one year on the way home. They got lucky because there was no one else around. My brother in law now takes his truck to go pick it up.

Ouch,I have slipped many times on ice.Once I stepped off a sidewalk, slipped on some black ice and slid right under a car.My Friend Melissa said"Where's Vickie"? and there I was, all ya could see was my nose and up.Still to this day my girl will say watch out for those Parked cars Vic..
But not while cutting our tree down.We go to a farm just about a mile down the road and we pick our tree out decorate it and then come back in Dec.Lasttime we did this, the tree grew about a foot more than we wanted.lol
They only funny story I have is my sister and her hubby, before the kids were born bought this huge tree, and while they were taking it inside a chipmunk ran out and scared my sister so bad she slipped on her walk way,and screamed all the while she was falling down about that darn chipmunk..lol

LOL, Mumof2, you need to stay in when it's icy outside. God bless ya.

Also, that's funny about the chipmonk. Reminds me of the Chip & Dale Christmas cartoon when they were in Mickey's tree and Pluto discovered them.

Thanks for the smiles.

winterberry has shown a merry disposition
My dear sister one year thought she would have a real potted tree for a change, she came home decorated it but the next day she found ants in her lounge from the nest at the base of the tree. Needless to say she's gone back to her old faithful artificial tree from that experience, lol
