candle How do you handle...

That difficult family member during the holiday season. You know that person that is determined to cause a problem? I am hoping to just ignore this person as Christmas for my family this year will be at my pregnant daughters home. And I am hoping and PRAYING that all will go smoothly. My son in law has already told me he will evict anyone who causes a ruckus as he just wont stand for it. But how do you all handle the holiday troublemaker???

I am the same way I will not tolerate any trouble in my home holiday or no holiday and will have not problems tossing anyone out on their back side. However I will give one warning and after that there is the door. If I have to toss someone they will not get invited back until they can prove me they will behave.

If I am at someone's gathering and someone else is behaving rudely, depending on whose house I am at I will either ignore the person or call the person on their rudeness.

Seriously, I would not invited him/her!
I don't have time for troublemakers during my best time of the year!

I have one, but I must admit I feel so bad for him really he is not happy and well I try to turn the other cheek maybe I am being foolish but I always say you can only allow someone to upset you. You hold the power, you can choose to get upset or consider the source. It may be the passive way to go, but I feel like he does act up because he is upset within his own heart, I don't know.

I agree with you totally. I am going to ignore anything that may be sent my way. Guess I just wanted to know how others handled their difficult relatives.

We have a trouble maker that sometimes comes to my sisters house and my sister doesn't put up with it. She has been asked to leave before and and now she is starting to get better. It is really stupid stuff that she does. The year she was asked to leave she brought her dog with her. Her dog is not house broke but she just lets it go where ever in her house. The dog starting getting into everyones gifts and then went to the bathroom on my nieces new sweater. My sister told her to get out and that if she was ever invited back to not bring that dog with her. I would have never invited her back but since it is one of my brother in laws family members she was allowed to come back over.

I generally ignore those relatives and refuse to take anything nasty or negative seriously. If I respond at all it's always with a light, happy quip and I move on. I refuse to let them have the power to ruin my holiday.
