holly What will you be doing to celebrate the start of the Christmas Season?

Hi all,

I was just wondering with just 36 days to the official start of the christmas season, have you got something planned to mark the start of the festive season?

Is there some small or large gesture that you do each year or plan to do this year to welcome the season.

I'm not sure! I hope that I at least *start* some of my Christmas shopping. I'm way behind this year, and ironically enough, I have more people to buy gifts for than ever, so...ha. I think I need to get to shopping.

Shopping sounds like a nice way to welcome the season . I also need to get cracking with mine.

Craft fair

There's a local huge craft fair that's the Saturday before thanksgivng every year and that how I bring in the start of the Christmas season for me. Followed by the ever loving Black Friday where I'm hoping to score some good deals this year

I always take part in the final countdown on here and then ring in the Season with traditional Christmas music for the first time of the year. It's going to be another magical Season!

Here in Pittsburgh, Christmas "unofficially" begins on Light-Up Night... this year November 16th... and to commemorate that event, I'll be having a "Launch Party" for my NEW Christmas comic, Christmas Eve Holiday Grab Bag at Pittsburgh's Toonseum, a cartoon art museum in downtown Pittsburgh... if you're in the area, stop by... more details as plans are firmer...

I love Halloween but when it hits November 1st, it's time to take all the Halloween decorations down and get into the swing of Christmas. SO come Nov 1, I will remove Halloween and start organizing the Christmas decorations.

I start planning when to get the tree and really begin listening to Christmas music full time. My ipod basically switches completely to Christmas music. I light more holiday scented candles and start planning my Thanksgiving menu too.

This year I'm not making our family's Thanksgiving meal though so it will be a bit different to just sort of sit back and relax on the big day.

Loading my MP3 player and iPad with Christmas music ... I've been listening to some for a while already, but I save some of it especially for the season. Around the start of the season I also like to visit the local garden center, which becomes a huge Christmas decorating and gift center. Wouldn't hurt to start a little gift-wrapping around then, either.

I do the same thing. November 1 starts the season for me. I've started downloading some songs to add to my Christmas playlist, but I'll switch to full time Christmas music the day after Halloween (been known to even sneak a few Christmas songs in driving home from work on Halloween, on my way to take the kids trick-or-treating).

santahat

I will be turning on Christmas lights Nov.3 can't wait. Our Christmas season starts on the Santa Claus Parade, this year on Nov.17th Winnipeg, Manitoba. Parade is at night because all the floats are covered in lights. It is magical, have been going with my children for years. It is a tradition in my family that we look forward to all year. I live in the Interlake, so we make the hour drive to the city early in the morning. We all wear our santa hats all day and enjoy the festivities at The Forks Market. After the parade there are Fireworks at The Forks. Truly magical.
