star Decorated houses in your town

Every town has one, sometimes more, you know, the house that goes over the top , covered from roof to lawn with lights and decorations. The one people drive slowly past and enjoy.

Is it possible for people to post pictures here of that special house in your town?

We have a great one only a few blocks from us, but sadly, my digital camera has bit the dust so unless Santa brings me one, there will be no pictures from me

But, I will go over there and enjoy all the hard work they put inot thier display again this year.

I'll keep an eye out over here but it seems I'm the only one in my street with lights yet (and they're still aren't finished)

That is really a great idea. I don't have a digi cam either but maybe if I borrow my friends she can email me the pictures when I am done snapping. Or if all else fails I could try my camera phone. Will be on the look out. Although, I do have to admit that when my sweet daughter and I go out on our drive to look at lights she is ohhhhhing and ahhhhhhhing at any decorated house. Doesn't matter if they have one string of lights or or the whole entire house is lit up. She tends to catch me off guard alot. She will be like look Mommy...look and I look over and yep it's the home with only a few lights. But the joy and excitment of it all is worth it to me. I think we all need to sometimes look at things from a childs perspective, and relish it all for what it is.

House

Hi,

Last year, there was a house that went so over the top, they even talked about it on a local radio station. I think they do it every year.

They have different parts of their property including the barn, the front lawn, different parts of the house (roof, windows, door frames, etc...) all lite up and synchronized to a soundtrack that sends the radio signal up to around 50 yards away, so that you can listen to in your car while you are parked in front, watching it. It's quite impressive and really well done. I took a few pictures on my cell phone last year. I don't know if I still have them.

Cheers!!

light

There are a few...but one stands out. I'll see if I can stop and take a picture one night. It's on a busy road so it will be difficult to do. If I pick the right night, Santa will be outside waving to everyone!

There is one in my town has 2 good ones. one is called the Christmas house. They not only set up the out side with lights and and animated dolls and but you can walk through their house and see all kinds of displays. They have a website too you can check out. The other is on the out skirts of town. It is a big house and you get out and walk through their yard and down their driveway they have tons of display and lights very nice. We go to both every year. we also have a town run place called Christmas village. Christmas village is Santa's home in CT. You can see Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves real Reindeer and a life size nativity. Very cool but always mobbed. Last year we waited 6 hours for my kids to see Santa, ugh....

Well, the house I mentioned in my earlier post was in the paper on Thanksgiving. Here's a link to it. Mr. Zapf really goes all out. I had his granddaughter one year in class and she really didn't do much with it.

We only have one house where they go over the top with lights - there are so many that no one display stands out its just a mish mash of lights. The rest of us are more sedate with less lights or should I say more room between them. Ours encompasses the front lawn and front of house with a fairy grotto, Rudolph, an angel at the window and various other misc. displays. The side display has the outdoor patio as a Christmas rest stop for those visitors who just want to sit down and relax. a disco area, the inflatable area and then there is the lounge and conservatory - the conservatory is open to the public and they can often see through to the lounge. These two rooms have all our fibreoptic displays in them - the conservatory has the villages and other odds and ends and the lounge has other fibreoptic decorations as well as a few more fragile other pieces. If I can get photos organised I will but here in NZ we dont do things as grandly as the US.
