My Dog Sam
Dear Abby, I too was picked on when I was a child and I too turned to our dog Queenie. She always gave me love and she always listened. Bless you.
3.0?? That's not an earthquake, friends. Being from California, I've been in many an earthquake and it is one of the few things in this world that I really fear.
Back in '89 I was just getting ready to leave work to rush home to watch the World Series. I was working in a drug store at the time, running a photo lab. The store had a big liquor department and a whole front to it made of glass. Just before the quake hit my boss felt something and called out "GET AWAY FROM THE GLASS". Just like that it hit with a violence none of us had been through before and it seemed to last forever. The entire liquor department came down, the front of the store came down and people literally ran right into it. It was unbelievable that no one got hurt.
I was in Valencia, Ca during the Northridge Quake of...what was it?...'93? I was installing a piece of lab equipment, brand new $250k machine. That quake was a dead-of-the-night quake that also was violent. It bent the frame of that machine, which was about 15 feet long, and made it completely unusuable. In the parking lot, my car was moved about 25 feet SIDEWAYS. Frightening quake.
Just this past August I was in LA and felt that quake there, middle of the day. I was driving on the freeway and nearly drove off the road...it felt like I had two flat tires on each side of the car.
I survived the Indiana (Illinois based) earthquake of '08. It didn't scare me, I was laying in bed watching the morning news and I was wondering why my bed was shaking. I was starting to get ticked. It seemed to last nearly a minute.
