Yes, we do. There are just too many people to buy for! We set a limit of 30 for that person we draw. I usually spend more, hehe.

But, everyone buys for the little kids.

Thanks for all the replies, I found it interesting. It seems drawing names is a thing of the past with only a few still drawing names but who knows it may make a comeback.

I know in my immediate family with my kids and their spouses, it really helped to take some of the stress away and they can concentrate on buying just for their children.

A big thank you to everyone for their post and a -

MERRY CHRISTMAS from my house to yours

Yeah we do We draw names at my cousins birthday party every November 2nd. On Christmas Eve we all get together and give gifts, and eat dinner and everything. It usually lasts from 6pm to 10pm Christmas Eve. After that I go home, get on Norad for a bit, and then go to sleep and wake up at 2am Christmas morning at watch christmas shows until 5 or 6 and then go out and look at the presents before my parents get up Even though I'm 16, this is a tradition i will keep doing.

My husband and I buy for eachother, and of course my three stepsons. In my family, it's gotten too big to buy for everyone so we buy joint gifts for my three married sisters, and their husbands. I also have one sister who is single, and we buy a gift for her too. I'll never forget the first year my husband and I were married. I didn't know my sisters were buying us anything, and no one told us. I was so embarrased when they had gifts for us and the family christmas party. On my husband's side of the family, we buy for the granchildren until they're 18. This yeasr we'll have 5 kids to buy for. We give them money, but attach a christmas candy to the envelope. Whoever hosts the party that year, i usually buy them an ornament, holiday candle, or a bottle of wine.

Many thanks for your posts.

I can remember as a child how excited I was when we drew names. It added to the mystery of Christmas.

I am trying to get my family to go back to this idea It has worked for us in the past. I like the idea of guys buying for guys and girls buying for girls. It would be fun. but we usually pick names and buy something special for that person. WIth the ecomony as it is I want to go back to picking names Or just buy a family gift for each family. it will be cheaper for me.

We used to do a pollyanna when our sons were young, but then moved away from the tradition.

We do this on both sides of our family. Our family on both sides are so big, we have to do this. If we didn't we couldn't afford to get everyone something nice. This way everyone gets a really nice and special gift. Granted it is only one, but it is very nice.

We don't exchange names any more as we are scattered all over the state and it is a rare occasion for all of us to be together for the holiday.
