holly Here's what I do, how 'bout you?

I find myself thinking about any projects I want to complete in the house around this time of year. I know that before I can really relax and enjoy the traditions we love so much come fall, I need to get certain things out of the way. For instance, I'll be choosing paint for the bedrooms soon and getting a couple of chairs recovered over the next few months. That way, when November comes around, I'm ready to rock and roll with decorations both old and new!
Anybody else have a pre-holiday timeline for projects?

We were planning on replacing our kitchen floor. Its ceramic tile right now, but my 2 year old has just about wrecked it... most pieces are cracked from him dropping things on it. Plus my Husband and I were never crazy about the floor (it was already installed when we purchased the home 3 years ago). We were going to put in hardwood or the laminate that looks like wood. Its quite expensive to get the ceramic tile taken out though. We needed a new roof unexpectedly a few months ago and most of our tax refund was used on that...so our plans have been put off until next year around tax time. Im pregnant with our 2nd child (due in August)..so between the new baby and the new roof we wont be doing much else around the house this year! I have been focusing more on early Christmas shopping and planning to be sure my 2 sons have a wonderful Christmas!

Not necessarily for just Christmas. But we have a huge project going on. We are renovating our house (yes we have literally gutted it out pretty much). But I do have to admit I have Christmas in mind when it comes to certain things such as where the windows are located (for Christmas lights...where my tree(s) will go etc) I will have to add some pictures sometime to share with everyone...the "project" is far from finished but I guess it will give you all a better idea of what's going on.

We just had some contractors out for estimates on putting on an addition, new windows and new siding. We should have them back next week and then we will see what we will be able to do this summer (afraid the addition may have wait a couple more years) We are also planning on having trees removed from the back yard next week, installing a large utility closet in the laundry room to house all my holiday platters, bowls, and kitchen appliances that do not get used on a regular bases. Our kitchen is small and we do not have enough cabinet space so we currently have things stored all over the house. I want to have them centeralized in one location. Also putting another utility closet to be used as a pantry. We are also talking about doing some repainting this summer and having carpet installed in the living room.

We just finished putting the finishing touches on our son's nursery, now, we're just folding his new clothes and seperating them by size. We had our baby shower this weekend, so we got some new clothes there, then my cousin sent down clothes that her 1 year old son wore when he was a newborn. I plan on being elbow-deep in onesies for a couple of days! Both my husband and myself will be making freeze-friendly meals that we can heat up for the first two weeks after the baby arrives, so that's going to take up a lot of time too...nothing else non-baby related, it's kind of all I can think about since it's soooo close! I've got baby on the brains!

ReineV:
Wishing you all the best with your new baby on the way! Have fun at your shower and enjoy being the center of attention for that day because soon all eyes will be on your precious newborn!

I'm starting a new business so that is all I've been thinking about project-wise. I haven't had time to do much else of late.

Meceka, what kind of business are you starting?

There are a few projects we want to do, but one is to paint the house and replace screens. That is what we want to do this summer. Once school starts back, we take a weekend and reorganize everything and wash walls, etc. That is only about two and a half months away....then we start preparing for Christmas a weekend at a time....I CAN'T WAIT!!!
