I LOVED the exchanges last year!!!! It was really exciting not knowing where your next card was coming from. Also, for the ornament exchange, you are generally paired up with someone in your neck of the woods - well, sort of!!! Being in Scotland, I was paired with someone in Europe as opposed to someone in the States or Canada; easier for the postage!
I tried to send to as many people on the list as possible last year (think I did about 3/4) and the cost for that was roughly $80 and that was just for the card exchange - it didn't include family and friends (not that you aren't friends but you know what I mean!) Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to cut back this year as that was kind of steep. A lot of those people on the list just seemed to turn up at the last minute, added their names and we've never heard from them again!!! There are some members we KNOW are seasonal and they will start to gather round the tree about September/October and it's great to welcome them home. Others I think, just pass on through. They find us, think it's great, hang around for a while (sometimes even for just a couple of weeks) and then, like a butterfly, flit off somewhere else never to be seen again.
I think 1/2 my cards went to the butterflies...........!!!
