The Mighty Mighty Bosstones released two Christmas songs that flew virtually under the radar in the new millenium although one has received radio play throughout the U.S. during each Holiday season.

I was quite surprised when I heard "Christmas Time" by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones on the radio back home. It was certainly a nice feeling. It's not a happy Christmas song as it is basically a jab at the commercialisation of Christmas, but it still has a great feel and sound to me.

Their other Christmas song, "This Time of Year," is very upbeat and happy. It always makes me smile. Their is a short dual saxophone solo where they bust out a bit of "Jingle Bells," which is very well done, too. These songs are certainly classics to me as they are constants in my Christmas music rotation.

In recent (ish) times the best 'modern' christmas tune (and my fave non carol christmas song) has to be The Pouges feat Kirsty MCcall (Sadly passed away). It just aint christmas if i dont have it playing at least 5000 times in december.

Band Aid was/is good but they shouldnt really re do it any more as the third one was prettu bad (especialy having the rap bit in it?????)

Enya would do a great modern carol (shes done a few christmas songs and sings a few in gaelic). Though it would be nice to have an up tempo modern rock/pop christmas tune like slades Merry christmas everybody or Wizzards I wish i could be christmas everyday.
