I will do that fresh cut of the trunk.....that was my problem last Christmas.....the tree lost so many needles....even tho it was fresh....the problem was....since I didnīt cut the trunk....the tree...
Here is my sage baking advice. Make up the cookie doughs ahead of time and then bake them off as you need them. I make up my cookie doughs in July and then bake them off as needed come December. Clean out your freezer and start making cookie dough!

I've always baked my holiday cookies ahead of time, and they freeze very well. I also baked pumpkin bread and froze that too. I have a big tupperware container, the kind that is used for cupcakes, and I freeze my cookies in that.
