Web Cameras @ Christmastime

Web Cameras @ Christmastime

I was prowling http://www.earthcam.com/ when an idea came sliding in from the ether. As I look at the many street scenes across the globe, I wonder how many cameras are set up along parade routes? There may even be cameras set up at other Christmas related events/themes. At least we may be able to see how places are decorated for Christmas

We need to compile a list of web cams in advance of the season showing Christmas parade routes, etc. Post what you find here. Another useful site to pair parades to web cams is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_holiday_parades

Some things that will be helpful with your post are parade/event times, a link(s) related to the parade/event, and most importantly, a direct link to the web cam.

Post your location soon!

There aren’t any cameras associated with anything in my area, so here is an example using Nashville, Tennessee, USA:

What – Annual Christmas Parade

Where – Nashville, Tennessee USA

When – December 4, 2009 at 7:00 pm Central Time – (Always the first Friday in December.)

Web cam - http://www.earthcam.com/usa/tennessee/nashville/

Web site(s) - http://nashville.about.com/b/2007/11...mas-parade.htm

http://www.piedmontng.com/itc/commun...hristmasParade

Someone in Nashville please correct or add to the above information. I didn’t find anything specific to the 2009 Parade. I also don’t know the exact route as related to camera locations.

When we have a fairly decent schedule, maybe we can organize chat dates to “attend” the event together in real time!

Great idea!
I know for sure we do not have one here in town. I know they do tape the parade for local cable channel, but not sure how many would be able to see that.
I will however look around for other parade cams in the area.

i was thinking about hosting a live webcam event this year using stickam.com

everyone can turn their webcams on and we can all chat and show eachother stuff like our houses and trees and such. how neat would that be?

I have a webcam on my laptop and just got a skype account so that my sister in Phoenix and cousins in Philly and Chicago could see my son! I would love this!! You know, one year on the Fine Living Channel, they had live cams set up in towns across the US on Christmas morning. One was of a small town. It was on ALL morning...even in the wee hours when everyone was still sleeping. They also showed a place where families went and sledded (sp?) down hills on Christmas morn and it was just so cool to watch other people wake up and interact on Christmas morning. I hope they do it again sometime because they didn't do it last year. I kept it on all morning while I was helping my mom prepare Christmas dinner.
