Christmas Controversy & Opinion Visit Defend Christmas.com Presented by Defend Christmas, this forum covers the difficult topics of the season -- from the famed and fabled War on Christmas to church and state debates to using the star or the angel on the Christmas tree. Modern Christmas celebration has it's complications -- schools are divided, some Christmas light displays are too much, some even argue that it is better to call it a "holiday" tree. Some merchants won't even say "Merry Christmas"! Where there is controversy, there is insanity. Even in Christmas.

we put them up early....like right around Halloween b/c it's usually warm and dry.....but don't turn them on until the night before Thanksgiving....then we take them down (outside on the 2nd) and the inside is done around the 6th or 7th

Our weather here in Northern California is pretty mild. But putting them up early isn't that bad either.

It varies from year to year but all outside decorations come down January 1st. My husband and I go out to lunch on New Years Day then come home and take down everything outside. My tree sometimes comes down before New Years and sometimes I leave it up after New Years. I usually leave a table top tree up until the end of January. Ahhh...I hate when I have to put everything away. I want to leave it up all year!

You would fit in great in my neighborhood. They start lighting up their houses the first week in November. Not just on my block but all around my area. I LOVE IT!

I'm not sure if I posted on this thread or not.

I decorate the day after Thanksgiving. Then I leave them up until after new years sometime.

I decorate a few days before Thanksgiving since it takes me about 2 days to get everything out and I usually take it down the weekend after New Year's. Don't know if I'll get to do it all this year since I'm still recovering from a back injury, but I'll do as much as I can.

I pray that you will be able to do as much as you can.And enjoy it without pain. I injured my back in 1992 and I have family members help me.
