My Dog Sam
Dear Abby, I too was picked on when I was a child and I too turned to our dog Queenie. She always gave me love and she always listened. Bless you.
I think for me it is the change of the weather and the going
back to the normal time.
Longer evenings, the heat comes on in the house, chilly nights,
all things that make me think of the upcoming christmas season.

I think about Christmas all year but on Thanksgiving Day it really takes off! When I wake up Thanksgiving morning and turn on the Today Show and watch the preview to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade the excitement begins for me. When Santa comes across the grand finale of the parade I jump up and down.. hehe... That feeling of "Christmas is finally here"!!!! I can't wait!!!
For us, the decorations start creeping out after Halloween and usually are fully up (minus the tree) by Thanksgiving. I like to call Thanksgiving "The opening ceremonies of Christmas". Here in Atlanta, there's the lighting of the Macy's tree on Thanksgiving night and our family always sits down after dinner to watch people sing carols and light the tree on tv.
I'm gonna try to get my boyfriend to take me to the tree lighting this year...he doesn't know it yet lol!!!
As a child it was "officially Christmas" when my grandmother gathered up all of my cousins & baked cookies & sang to/with us, & let us sit up all night eating junk food . Now as an adult living on my own it doesn't really hit me until I go home with my family for the holidays. Its so hot down in Savannah you can never tell its Christmas if it weren't for the lights LOL!

Musically speaking the Christmas Season doesnít kick in full time for me until the weekend immediately preceding Christmas Day. Thatís when all of my favorite public radio shows (on air and on line) begin featuring their Christmas programming. Most of the stations will air special programming through Christmas night.
Thatís also my personal tradition; I listen to and/or record well over one hundred hours of Christmas programming each year.
Well, I also start thinking and planning in the summer, but the season really starts when the last bit of pie is eaten at Thanksgiving and my sister-in-law and I pull out the ads and plan our Black Friday. Of course, after the shopping is done, it's all about fun with the family all month long.
