I do not like fruitcake! Every year my FIL sends us some in a box along with the kids gifts....my husband will eat some of it though, I just don't like the candied citron at all. I have often thought though that maybe if it just had regular fruit instead of the candied stuff I would probably give it a try.

I like it if it's not too dry... This is the recipe I use, not as heavy as some: http://www.whychristmas.com/fun/reci...mas_cake.shtml

My parents knew some people that started the rum pot for the fruit for their cake on New Years Day - apparently you could smell the cake being cut from two rooms away!!!

I don't care for it, even though my parents were famous for their holiday fruitcakes. In a good way, I mean! I remember friends and neighbors about this time of year saying to them, "Remember to save me half a cake for Christmas!" My parents baked them on Thanksgiving Day, wrapped them in wine-soaked cloths and aluminum foil, and let them mellow in a refrigerator until near Christmas. I never tasted their fruitcake because when I was little, they used to tell me "you wouldn't like it." But I still remember how the house smelled when they were baking, and I have Mom's recipe, which I think came down through Dad's family.

I agree with Whychristmas. As long as it is not to dry I love fruit cake.

I actually enjoy it! Depends on how its made, but when I get a fruitcake (which has been a couple years, guess the tradition of giving fruitcakes is losing popularity) I always try it!

I love it! Not all fruitcake is good but if you check out the fruitcake from Collin Street Bakery it is high quality and very tasty!!! It is very rich so I cannot eat a lot but it's good.
