The first reports are just starting to come in to the North Pole from Moscow. That means Santa is somewhere close by and that Elf Victor may be meeting with him at any time to change the team of reindeer.
Many kids are asking if Santa has always used multiple sets of reindeer. The answer to that is "yes". Many
assume that Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph are Santa's reindeer all the time on Christmas Eve. And that's not always true, although those special reindeer always launch with Santa on Christmas Eve and always bring Santa home. But Santa likes to give them breaks, especially after about 8 to 10 hours in flight, which is right about now.
You need to understand that Santa used THOUSANDS of reindeer on Christmas Eve. Not all of them fly with Santa's sleigh. Some are scouts who are in the skies and on the ground looking for information and checking things out for Santa in advance of his flight into an area. Others pull special sleighs filled with more goodies for Santa's sack. Getting around the world in a night is a big job and Santa needs alot of help. Reindeer, like elves, are everywhere working in the service of Santa. Look around
your neighborhood...if you see a reindeer...or what you think might be a reindeer...chances are he or she works for The Big Guy.
