My all-new Cool Yule comic for this year is about that very subject...

It's a fun, goofy little legend... and, yes, I got most of my research material from this site..!

I bought a pickle ornament when my kids were little, but because whoever didn't find the ornament would usually be soo disappointed, I ended up having the gift they got be a family gift - something that we all could enjoy. That way, everyone enjoyed the hunt and the gift.

Being of German ancestry myself, I've never heard of this tradition before till a friend of mine mentioned it and sent me one. My kids love trying to find this on the tree. Usually what I do is get three kinder surprise eggs (one for each kid) and no matter who finds the pickle, I give them each a kinder egg for their gift. That way the other two don't feel left out.

Christmas Pickle

Bizzare ornament, but looks really cool, they seem to have made it really well though. Does anyone know the origin?

That is neat. What type of family gifts did you have for everyone to enjoy?

Follow any of the links on this site for Cool Yule Comics and click on the winking snowman icon that says "books"... if you have Pay Pal access, you're all set..! Plus, I sign, bag and add backing boards to every book ordered off the site.

They are available for sale to Canada because, basically, it's just plain old Priority mail... my only problem is selling them overseas because the postage is sometimes two to three times more expensive than the books...

Thanks for your interest!
