I Need More Christmas Music...

Hi All!

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas season and is having and will have a great new year.

Anyway, I've scoured the sharity sites, purchased some online albums, etc, but the search for more Christmas music continues. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Let me zero in on the task a bit for you. I'm not really into the newer stuff as I like the classics. I would say the '40s, '50s, and '60s, maybe early '70s, but that's pushing it.

I hope to type up my current list of what I have so you see what I mean, but in the interim, here's some examples.

Standards like Crosby, Ives, Williams etc.
Bert Kaempfert and other instrumental albums of that ilk.
Sammy Kaye
Billy Vaughn
Percy Faith
Perry Como....

Hopefully this gives you some idea what I'm looking for.

Any suggestions for me to check out would be greatly appreciated.

Like I said, I'll try to remember to type up my current collection (its not all that huge) and post it for detail.

One can never have enought Christmas music, and hey, its right around the corner!

As a former high school and church choir alto, may I suggest you look into recordings from your local choirs? They often make CDs of their Christmas music for fund raisers, it's usually very traditional, and often quite good. You know the money goes to a good cause! Most of our Christmas CDs are the Madrigals and choir we used to perform with in school, but there are some church chorale productions, organ recitals, and a sweet adeline's choir or two as well.

For conventional, good classic Christmas music, I recommend Mannheim Steamroller. They are an electronic orchestra, of all things, but their Christmas music is rich and old fashioned. I'm also a huge fan of hokey Celtic Christmas CDs, especially if there's harp included. And, last of all, medieval reenactors sometimes produce music.

One of my favorite songs is a little known song from Great Britain from the early 70's it is called:
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by a group called Wizzard written by Roy Wood.
