Revenge Of The Mix Tape

Every year for the past three or four years, I've been making my wife a "romantic favorites" mix Cd from songs I've downloaded from i-Tunes and Napster... every year it gets just a little bit harder to find just the "right" songs that reflect the feelings of both of us... I thought this might be a fun exercise if we all could list 20-28 songs that we like and also that reflect what we think our romance with our "significant other" is like... here's my lst from 2009...

1. SOMEBODY TO LOVE -- Queen
2. TAKING A CHANCE ON LOVE -- Frank Sinatra
3. LISTEN TO WHAT THE MAN SAID -- Wings
4. FOOLS FALL IN LOVE -- The Drifters
5. CUPID -- Sam Cooke
6. LOVE IS IN THE AIR (Ballroom Mix) -- John Paul Young
7. THE ANGELS LISTENED IN -- The Crests
8. LOVE IS LIKE A ROCK -- Donnie Iris
9. ON THE STREET WHERE YOU LIVE -- Dean Martin
10. I FEEL LOVE -- Donna Summer
11. IT'S BEEN A LONG, LONG TIME -- Brook Benton
12. ONE BOY -- Joanie Sommers
13. LET'S GET IT ON -- Marvin Gaye
14. TILL THERE WAS YOU -- Rod Stewart
15. OH ME OH MY (I'M A FOOL FOR YOU, BABY) -- Lulu
16. CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF YOUR LOVE, BABE -- Barry White
17. AND I LOVE YOU SO -- Don McLean
18. BABY, I'M YOURS -- Barbara Lewis
19. WITH THIS RING -- The Platters
20. HOTEL HAPPINESS -- Brook Benton
21. TUPELO HONEY -- Van Morrison
22. STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU -- Big, Bad Voodoo Daddy
23. OH, WHAT A NIGHT -- The Dells

and 2008...

1. Let's Fall In Love -- James Darren
2. I Will -- The Beatles
3. Oh, Babe, What Would You Say -- Hurricane Smith
4. Kissin' Time -- Bobby Rydell
5. Hallelujah, I Just Love Her So -- Ray Charles
6. Time After Time -- Chris Montez
7. I Need Your Love Tonight -- Elvis Presley
8. Every Day With You Girl -- Dennis Yost and the Classics IV
9. Can't Take My Eyes Off You -- Frankie Valli
10. Cara Mia -- Jay and the Ameicans
11. You're The First, The Last, My Everything -- Barry White
12. A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square -- Bobby Darin
13. Morning, Beautiful -- Tony Orlando & Dawn
14. You Are My Sunshine -- Rickie Nelson
15. Play Me -- Neil Diamond
16. As Long As There's a Shadow -- Roger Miller
17. Buona Sera -- Louis Prima
18. Because They're Young -- James Darren
19. My Cup Runneth Over -- Ed Ames
20. Sway -- Dean Martin
21. Help Yourself -- Tom Jones
22. The Wonder Of You -- Elvis Presley
23. Walkin' My Baby Back Home -- James Darren

"I Will" was our wedding song... but we went with the Ben Taylor version because it had more instrumentality and was easier to dance to...

My wife and I live in a small town and have a thirty minute commute (separately) to work. My mixed music for her isn’t limited to Valentines Day. Of course I Dee Jay her CDs with incredibly witty and loving banter in between sets!

Here’s a recent playlist, which happened to be for her birthday.

01- Happy Birthday – Happy Birthday (yep, that’s the name of the group as well)
02- Intro – Me (but not as RadioJonD)
03- Something’s Got a Hold On Me – David Lindley & El Rayo X
04- (I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles – The Proclaimers
05- Sweet Inspiration – The Hollisters
06- Love Like Blood – John Hiatt
07- Set break – Me
08- All The Ways I Love You – Bruce Cockburn
09- Just The Way You Are – Jose Feliciano
10- Loving You – The Mavericks
11- Countryside With You – Randy Weeks
12- Set break – Me
13- I’d Run Away – The Jayhawks
14- Take Me With U – Marshall Crenshaw
15- Walking With You – Jeremy
16- I’m With You – Delbert McClinton
17- Set break – Me
18- My Baby’s Loving – Delbert McClinton
19- The Way You Move Me – Gretchen Peters
20- Dry Land – Joan Armatrading (This song and artist make my top ten in each catagory of all time)
21- Take A Little Time – Cash Brothers
22- Close – Me
23- Love Is All Around – The Troggs

My mix for this year includes your number four pick, RadioJon... except, instead of The Pretenders, I chose the Celtic Thunder version... something about drunken Irishmen...
