A singer named Diane Birch released "Gee Whiz, It's Christmas" last year (2009) as a single. Birch's version is a more up tempo than the original. It's like, let's hurry and get this over with. Hardly any soul to it at all.
I'll have to dig around and see if anyone else has recorded the tune.
Carla Thomas, who also co-wrote the tune, actually recorded at least two versions of "Gee Whiz" back in the mid sixties.
Ding!, Ding!, Ding!, Ding! We have a winner! Thank you, Queenie!
Rufus Thomas (remember the "Funky Chicken"?) was the famous father of Carla Thomas! the elder Thomas recored for the famed Stax label in Memphis, Tennessee. Rufus' Christmas contribution came in 1973 with a single (45 rpm) "I’ll Be Your Santa Baby" / "That Makes Christmas Day".

After digging around some more, I found two more versions of "Gee Whiz, It's Christmas."
An artist named Nikesha released a Christmas CD in 2007 entitled 'Christmas Time.' "Gee Whiz" is the thirteenth track on the fourteen tune CD. It's also an uptempo version with an electric reggae beat.
Billy Paul Williams released 'Chilled Christmas' containing fourteen tracks in 2008. Nicole Henry is the featured vocalist. "Gee Whiz" is track four. This one is a modern jazz and horn version. It keeps the original tempo although the additional instruments make it sound a bit more driven. Good piece!
Both the CDs or downloads are readily available at your favorite music source. Carla's are too!
Thanks for the additional "discoveries", christmas87!
That's interesting. Steven Cropper is the co-writer with Carla Thomas! Is this the CD? If so, I think the female singer is still Carla. Might be a different recording though.
Steve was also a member of the Stax Records house (studio) band. Maybe you've heard of them, Booker T & The MG's. Booker T & The MGs' fourth album was 'In The Christmas Spirit' released in 1966. It's now available on CD on the Rhino label.
