September 2010 Rudolph Day!

A good Rudolph Day to you all! Only two more left for 2010!

This one should keep us busy for a while!

A Prairie Home Companion (PHC) is a weekly staple on public radio stations across the U.S. approaching forty years now! PHC is a a cross between a TV variety show (remember those?) and Old Time Radio (remember those?). Each show features musical guests and comedy skits.

All shows (two hours each) between Thanksgiving and New Year are packed with unique Christmas offerings!

The best thing is that fifteen years of Christmas shows (that's thirty hours worth!) are available as a stream! When you choose a show, you have the option to listen in segments or to the show in it's entirety. There is also a segment log so you may follow along as the show plays.

So dig in and be happy!

Happy October 2010 Rudy Day!

Good Rudolph Day for October 2010! Two months to go until Christmas proper and only one more Rudolph Day left for the year!

Regular readers to my rants about Christmas radio programs have heard me go on and on about Jon Solomon's 24 hour Christmas marathon show on WPRB in Princeton, New Jersey. And for good reason!

Here is a news piece about Solomon's show that includes eight tunes (at the bottom) for streaming.

http://www.nj.com/insidejersey/index...s_christm.html

Here's what you'll hear:

Little Christmas Tree- Red Skelton
Goin' to Bethlehem- Coutnryside Unitarian Fellowship
Happy Birthday Jesus- Little Cindy
Jingle Bells- Gloria Parker
Mom and Daddy, Please don't Steal for me this Christmas- Suzannah
Laffy's Christmas Melody- Laffy
Rudolph the Rubber-Nose Reindeer- The Rubber Band
We Wish You a Merry Christmas- Wendy Mae Chambers

I don’t know what the protocol is but Rudolph Day for November falls on Thanksgiving in the U.S. this year. I’ll probably still share a link before we head full steam into the Season.

HiFi Holiday 2010

Ryan over at his blog, Hi-Fi Holiday, is serving notice for the upcoming vinyl rip season!

I'll issue the yearly proclamation early and will repeat as necessary. Vinyl shares are by nature for a limited time. So, as I list them, get to downloadin’! Many is the time when folks have been disappointed when they miss out on “that record from my childhood.”

Feel free to go back in time in this thread and start looking for blogs. Post any relevant updates for 2010.

"Blues For Christmas"

Courtesy of rockchild, I located an online stream of a locally produced show for Capital Public Radio in California! "Blues For Christmas" is hosted by Mick Martin and runs four hours. The show is from December 19, 2009. A playlist is included!

This type programming is exactly what I look for each year. I'm always up for an aircheck trade of such programming!

The more the merrier! We have such a small window to track down all the amazing gifts and info shared by our fellow fans that I cant wait to see all the goodies you ferret out!

I'm thrilled to find so many kindred spirits and old friends here, I'm only sorry I hadn't taken the plunge earlier.
