Honestly I cant stand the week after christmas. Like other have stated the radio just

cuts off the holiday music at midnight,it seems on tv and everywhere else its

business as usual. I am still on vacation from work and its hard to really explain

but I do feel very depressed the week after. On new years eve I get kind of sad,

that holiday is always bittersweet to me,its like the final little hooray of the holiday

season.

Interesting reading everyones comments and strange that your music just cuts off as that doesnt happen here. The run up in early December is a great time.

The 26th (Boxing Day) is like a rerun of Christmas day here but not quite the same excitement. I always have time off before and after the day and try to extend the feeling by continuing to watch the christmas movies and programmes.

The tree wont come down before New Years day and by then I'm finally able to focus on different things like plans for the coming year.

I used to be really down by Christmas day night, but I've tried and succeeded to enjoy the whole week. I'm off work and we usually have a few get togethers with friends over that period. Have to agree though, New Years for me is really depressing, even my optimistic outlook can't hide the fact that the holiday season is over and it's back to work. I take the decorations down on New Years day and it's an awful feeling. Best not to think too much about it and just look forward the next one.

Post-Christmas blues...

Yes, I definitely agree with you. By the end of Christmas day itself when all the fun stuff is over I begin to feel quite sad.

The worst thing for me though is when I first walk into the living room after the decorations are down. The room suddenly looks so sparse . But oh well, all good things come to an end - and at least with christmas it always comes back around

I still have one set of lights up from last Christmas. I thought they looked cool so I kept them up. I was thinking of taking them down so i would have something to look forward to, but I don't know...

By the time xmas comes, my decos have been up about a month, if not much longer. I'm tired of looking at them. I love it before the holiday, but when its done, its done. Its rare for my decos to make it till jan 1. usually i take them done the day or so after xmas, just depending on how i feel.

also, we have a teeny tiny home, so the tree and the stuff takes up a LOT of room. maybe if i had more space it would stay up longer, but I doubt it.

I start to feel down Christmas night. I take all of the decorations down the 26th, but agree that being part of this group is a huge help!

I feel down when the family go back to work at the beginning of January. I don't leave my decorations up until Twelth Night because I am a Christian and don't want to be thought to be superstitious! Besides, my maths isn't up to calculating when Twelth Night is!

I always feel a bit down too on Christmas night, knowing it's all almost over. I have been known to take all the decorations down the next day, but this year I'm going to try keeping everything up until New Year's day.
