What's with you guys having a specific date? January 6 or January 8?

Is it because of the 12 days of Christmas? I kept trying to tell my ex-husband that it was perfectly fine to leave my lights on until the end of the first week in January because of the 12 days of Christmas but he was a big scrooge about it.
