No outlet outside? - Lights

We don't have an outlet outside for lights. Oh, we have like 2 outlets in the back of our house, but none in the front. One year I tried to use the screw-in outlet adapter for the lamppost, but it looked SOO awful with the black extension cord coming out of the lamp.

What do you do if you have no outlet outside?? FYI, I live in Wisconsin, so snow is an issue!!!

We do not have an outdoor outlet, but I have an exhaust outlet from the basement where I run a cold rated extension cord through it to light my front yard display. We also have outdoor lamps next to the door, I take a bulb out and put in a flat plug that screws in like a light bulb and plug the Christmas lights directly into that, you don't notice the cords unless you get really close, and the Christmas lights give off enough light so you don't miss the light bulb.

They're showing battery-powered LEDs right now on QVC. These are indoor, but I suspect there are outdoor lights as well.

The strands on QVC seem pricey to me. But you could bargain shop. If you do, be careful. Make sure you look for the UL label--and take a good look. Counterfeit UL labels have been known to turn up on bargain lights.

Good luck!

This is what I do! I wrap the cord around or staple it to a post so it's out of the way and no one can see it.

It's really difficult though. I don't want to overload the outlet so I don't put out a TON of lights or anything.

Outdoor receptacles for Christmas lights was one of my first projects when we bought our house. I'm lucky in that I can do that kind of thing myself. It might get expensive to hire an electrician to do it for you.

Good luck!

We have the problem with the front of the house but can put outside lights on the side of the house and the back because we plug into the electric outlets located on our pavillion.
So I always put lights on the inside of my picture window and I got two large snowflake cutouts with lights hang on my dining room window. At least the front of the house is lit up though it's not on the outside.
