My Merry Christmas Announcement

Christmas Controversy & Opinion Visit Defend Christmas.com Presented by Defend Christmas, this forum covers the difficult topics of the season -- from the famed and fabled War on Christmas to church and state debates to using the star or the angel on the Christmas tree. Modern Christmas celebration has it's complications -- schools are divided, some Christmas light displays are too much, some even argue that it is better to call it a "holiday" tree. Some merchants won't even say "Merry Christmas"! Where there is controversy, there is insanity. Even in Christmas.

sheepsnot is a new face around here!
I like them, personally, but I do avoid them when I'm broke cause it feels bad not being able to contribute. Or I'll tell them that I'll give on the way out because there's an ATM inside, but I know they think I'm blowing them off till I come back. The bell ringer outside Sams yesterday probably thought I was giving her a chicken because I sat my rotisserie (sp?) chicken down while I cleaned my pockets of change. I had to tell her not to eyeball my chicken. They do sacrifice comfort and I really appreciate it.

I always keep tabs on which stores support the Salvation Army. A couple of years back, when Katrina was an issue, Walmart matched Salvation Army contributions up to $1 million. I made sure I dropped my donation there. Oh, and I always write a check and place it in the kettle. That way I get to be more generous than I would be on a cash basis and I get the deduction.
