Light Traditions

Do you and you family have any traditions where you go and look at lights every year?

Everyyear since I was a little girl, we've been going to a place here in my city called, "Holiday Lights on the Lake." It's 50+ acres of lights and truly amazing. It's very beautiful and I love doing it every year. This year was the first my daughter could really understand about the lights and she loved it. We actually just went tonight and she loved it.

Here is a video of what the lights are like:

This year I went to Lake Lanier Lights with my family. We all rented a bus and rode through together so we could experience it. It's not a tradition yet, but I think it might be in the future.

When I was little, we would ride around to look at lights after our Christmas program at church. DH & I have done this a few times, but it's been a few years since we've done it. One year we went out on Christmas Eve with DD & DH's parents, with Christmas songs playing on the iPod while we rode all over town looking at lights. In some subdivisions, we could see into the homes where people were gathered around the dining room table enjoying their time together!

We go many places to look for lights, but we always go to 34th Street in Baltimore, which is well known in Maryland for the abundance of decorations.

We go out looking a the Christmas lights in our town several times in the month of December. A cup of hot cocoa and a ride around town to look at the displays is the perfect way to spend a winter's evening and the Christmas season wouldn't be complete without doing that!

If we have the time, we drive to East Peoria and check out their Festival of Lights. It's definitely worth the hour drive - so amazing!

Niagara Falls, Port Simcoe and St Marys are a few of our favorite places. We try to find new places every year to check out.
