I am from Southwest Germany...close to Frankfurt and Heidelberg....about an hour drive to each. We open presents on the 24th....that is our biggest day...we call it Heilig Abend....which means Holy Night...actually it means Holy Evening...but Holy Night sounds better

I was born in the UK but have lived in Tuscany for the past 30 years.
I try to keep my Christmas traditions from when I was a child and have passed them on to my daughter. Presents are opened on Christmas morning after breakfast.
My favourite time is the build up to the great day. I watch xmas films and listen to all the jolly music.
Here in Italy we decorate our tree on 8th December. When I first moved here there was nothing Christmasy in the shops until December - very sad. But now shops start displaying festive goodies in October and most of the houses have lights and trees outside.

I'm from Liverpool, but living near Preston for half of my life. Tradition is me cooking Christmas lunch, with some spirit in side me. Went very well today and got Coal Ila and Bowmore Malts as pressies; and a book on Bletchley Park.
