My husband and I don't just come from different families we come from different countries. I'm from the states and he's from The Netherlands. In Holland they have what we call two Christmases; one is called Sinterklaas(Dec. 5th) which celebrates St. Nicolas's birthday and Christmas which celebrates the birth of Christ. On the eve of Sinterklaas we fill our girls shoes with treats and small gifts. Since my in-laws are in Holland during the holidays they send a huge box with presents and goodies for the girls for the Sinterklaas holiday. They pack the boxes with clothes, dolls and the traditional milk chocolate initails. Now, a tradition that I bring to the table is one my parents did with my siblings and I. Here in Maryland we have a place called Valley View Farms where it's a typical nursery all year long except during the holidays where it's transformed into a winter wonderland. My family and I enjoy getting new ornaments to dorn our tree. We end the the evening with tree triming and my husband's famouse homemade hot chocolate. I love holiday movies and I can't seem to get enough; I watch everything from the old classics to the new faves. The holiday cartoons that I enjoyed watching as a child I still get a kick out of watching with my girls and we do it as a family.
