Who will place second in the Christmas in July ratings?

The closer we get to July the more excited I am getting for Christmas In July. We all know that QVC will have the best programming among the shopping channels but who will have the second best this year?

I am torn on the subject. The odds are with HSN. Last year the number of new products they offered probably doubled over the year before. Gone were the days of the same products being offered on a 3 hour rotation. They actually appeared to put some thought into it and brought in items that rivaled qvc. Then we fast forward to the actual holiday season and they hardly had any Christmas decor shows on at all. You got the feeling that they surrendered to qvc and acknowledged that they just couldn't compete with their selection.

Now we move on to ShopNBC. Their Christmas in July event last year was a joke. While they did have some nice items from their starry nights lighting brand most of the day was spent promoting Seiko clocks. Thomas Pacconi, their one big name Christmas person only had one show. Then at the last minute they changed their schedule and cut the event off at 6pm to move to a 6 hour watch event. Fast forward to the season and unlike hsn they did have weekly decor shows. Most of them were focused on the starry nights brand but they did throw in some other shows once in a while. On the positive side though, ShopNBC just partnered with Macy's. They could utilize that partnership to bring in a selection of products that would rival qvc in my opinion but that doesn't mean that they will actually do it.

So what do you think? Will it be HSN or ShopNBC that comes out on top of the battle for second this year.

I didn't get a chance to watch any ShopNBC last year because it was not available, even though I could have watched it online, I just prefer to watch it on TV. If I had to guess, I would go for HSN.

Looking forward to the upcoming sales!

I really only ever watch QVC and occasionally HSN. With the way you're describing things though, I would say probably HSN.

HSN, for sure. ShopNBC is so, so, so weird, right? I remember that Seiko clock day and I was so annoyed! (And no, I've never bought anything from any of the home shopping channels, but I still LOVE them!)

If you lived closer, Made, we could take a trip to the QVC studios!! Only about an hour from my house!!

I've actually been to the QVC studios! Back in 1991 or 92, my sister and I were visiting my uncle who lives in Lancaster, he did business with QVC back then, I don't remember much more about it, or what my uncle sold. Being 16-17 years old QVC wasn't much of a big deal to me, now it would be.

On their site, there's an area where you can submit a video to apply to be an on-air personality, like a presenter (not a host)... Helloooo, dream job! Someone like Valerie gets to prepare for Christmas ALL YEAR! Awesome, right?!

I always enjoy QVC's programming, I tend to work most of the day, so I get to catch the tail end of the hosts a couple get on my nervous, lol but they try. Always beautiful things.
HSN has been building up, I have enjoyed it the past two years, it should take an easy #2

I just want to be one of their purchasers focused on christmas. I would freeze up in front of the camera.

Yes they are. It is getting better though. They just need a wider selection of product's and a few new hosts.
