Maybe you can... and this is a good way to meet your neighbors... take cookies around to everyone and ask if certain condos will turn their lights on and other turn them off, so that, from the outside, your building looks like a giant 22 storey lit tree at night... having them put in red and green bulbs is optional... it's a project... start now...

Having worked in high-rise buildings (and having relatives who've lived in high-rise buildings), I think the key is to spread the warmth to the entire building. Don't look at yourself as now being reduced to a small 1200 foot apartment, look at it as if you now have an entire high-rise to make festive!

Certainly try and work with your neighbors on this, but see about decorating each floor of the high-rise a unique way. Have everyone put Christmas lights or posters in their windows. And put some sort of public tree or some sort of group decoration in the downstairs lobby or in the parking lot. You may have to take the initiative, but others may join in.

Just imagine: pulling into the parking lot at night and looking up at the building, and seeing it all lit up. Stepping inside the lobby and seeing decorations. And getting off on your floor to find the hallway so festive. And then to step inside your own home and feel the warmth therein. Wow, makes me wish I lived in a high-rise, almost...

That's a good idea, I think I'll ask the staff what they usually do, if anything, for the holidays. The lobby of our building is really pretty, marble floors, large columns, beautiful mirrors...it would look awesome with a big christmas tree. Food for thought, thanks.

Our apartment isn't that big but also isn't too small at about 900 square feet. Granted, it never looks as amazing as my boyfriends parent's house... however we just make it our own! I put up lights around my balcony windows, around the balcony itself, tons of small decorations in the kitchen and even in my bedroom! It's all about what makes you happy! For me it was being able to turn off all the lights in the apartment and just have the tree lit with the Christmas lights on, it was the most magical thing ever! Turn on a good Christmas movie and it was heavenly!
