We have done daily scriptures/devotionals, we have put straw in a manger for good deeds done during the month of December, we have tried a Joshua tree, etc. But I still feel like I haven't found "the one" tradition yet. We try to have daily scripture reading as a family year round, so scriptures will definitely alway be part of it....maybe a specific scripture chain or something? Any ideas???

Thanks!
get a copy of "Wonderful Counselor" by Larry Libby & Steve Halliday.
It is a devotional for 2 weeks leading up to Christmas and really inspirational. A beautiful read that will keep you focused on Jesus.

Love your idea of the ornaments!

In our church (Catholic), we receive an Advent booklet that includes a daily devotional and short recap of a person's life (i.e. St. Francis) I use it as my own quiet time that focuses my mind on the real reason for the season. I truly enjoy all the other activities, too. There are many devotional books for kids, and I bet you could find a Christmas one. Most of the ones I have seen include a section that suggests some activity that kiddos can do. All my kids are grown now and live too far away, but I still close my evening with a daily devotional.

Well, I just bought a copy of the book thanks to your recommendation and ebay. (: I'm excited to get it. Is it geared towards a certain denomination? Do you know what version of the bible it uses? I guess I'll find out the answers soon enough but just thought I'd ask. I could definitely add "Wonderful Counselor" to the list of references to Christ for my ornaments....as well "Prince of Peace" and other names found in that same scripture. I need to go look it up...I just have the Hallelujah Chorus running through my mind. (:

NIV--New International Version, TLB--The Living Bible, KJB--King james Bible, and NASB--New American Standard Bible. I think that by using those translations, the book is multidenominational.
