Thank you for the replies, wonderful ideas and nice thoughts! I am sure it will be better than I am imagining it. There will be friendly acquaintances nearby, so I need not be alone unless I decide to be. I expect to lose a little of the joy of the season, since this will by my first independent year after a long and happy marriage. Christmas is my favorite time of year. Thanks for your kindly support and for having this website up year round.
the first years after my husband left were aweful. I had no desire to celebrate at all. It was only for my kids that I did Christmas at all. Even then the tree went up a week before Christmas and down the day after.
Yes, I still went to family get togethers and did things with friends, but somehow it was not the same.
But the joy does come back. Do what you feel like doing, give your heart time to heal.
For me, it took a couple a years, but now it is back too being fun and joyful for me.
