If only I played guitar!!!! Actually my FIL played in a band for years, he has a number of vintage guitars. I'll have to ponder on some of the others. I don't watch much TV, I have a Kindle, so usually just get books on there. I did put the new Soundtrack for The Hobbit on my list, my daughter was playing a track off it it, really cool!

Do you have any hobbies that require any sort of equipment? Like painting or some sort of sport. Or is there anything like that you'd like to try out? They could buy a year's worth or so of lessons for something like that, or supplies. I also second the spa day idea. And hey, gift cards aren't necessarily a bad thing! I'd suggest they get you a gift card to your favorite restaurant, then take you out to it to make it a family thing as well.
I have a tendency to get small, useful things for my parents, too. The sort of thing that's easily forgotten about but that you can't really have too many of. For example, glasswear, water bottles, winter hats/gloves/scarves/etc. That sort of thing. That could also work.
I put the Kuerig coffee machine on my list, and about 30 different flavors I want to try! A list of books that he can download on my Kindle, link to a spa for a massage, a few music CDs, I should be good. I 100% more enjoy the giving than the getting, but then I guess I have to let others enjoy the giving too, right?
