It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of one of our most cherished and valued members here at MMC, Caninemom3
, whose real name is Louann Jeffries. You can read her obituary here
Louann was a dear friend of mine, or had become so since she joined us around Christmas of 2009. We have exchanged many personal sentiments during that time, some associated with MMC and some not. She was a kindred Christmas soul, one who took pure joy from the season and from serving others, even strangers she met here. Louann was a valued member of our Christmas Crew, taking up duties to manage our annual Christmas Ornament Exchange and participating in the behind the scenes goings-on of managing the community.
Louann enjoyed a number of "firsts" here on MMC. She was our top poster, her presence being felt here every day. She was frequently the first to greet new members, taking steps to welcome them both in public and in private. She began, I believe, her first blog here and after a little nudging on my part even took up the pen to share her talents in writing about holidays, most prolifically about Thanksgiving. Her loss here will be so very keenly felt.
Louann and I exchanged messages frequently on topics beyond Christmas. As I share our family trials, most recently over the near loss of our beloved dog Sam, Louann was a concerned and interested party, asking all the questions any full hearted animal lover would ask. And did she love animals! She knew so much and could share that with just about anyone.
Louann was sensitive to me about my Mom and knew well my love and concern as my Mom has endured many years now of health issues. Louann was quick to advise and quick to shed a tear as sadness over life events would some times overwhelm me. She understood. When I think of the scriptural admonition to "mourn with those who mourn" I think of Louann because she was there in good times and in bad for many of us.
Louann had some struggles not too unlike the rest of us. She was free with the lessons she learned and she always worked to ease our burdens.
A more giving soul you could never ask to meet. She freely gave of her time and talents and money here. She fought for MMC survival and promoted us in good faith in many places outside of the site. We heard her voice on the podcasts and every once in a while I'd get a voice mail from Louann telling me that "Wish just wanted to say hi!".
I don't know the circumstances of her passing and I cannot be more shocked that this has happened. We last conversed here just the other day, just another in a long line of kindly conversations where she asked after my well being first.
I want her friends and family outside of My Merry Christmas to know how much we love and cherish Louann. She was a light to us. She was the epitome of Christmas spirit and giving. She will be very greatly missed.
Our hearts and condolences go out to all who love Louann. We feel your loss keenly and wish God's blessings upon you as you recount a life where giving was paramount and love reigned.
We love you, Louann!
