"The Gathering Part II" does exist. Parts of it are very good, but other story lines are pure 70s' TV melodrama. It is worth a look if you are familiar with the first film.

The Gathering Part II is good but if I'd seen that one first I probably would not have looked for Part I.

Originally, there was a plan to make a series from the storyline in Part I but after Part II fell a bit flat, they moved on.

Part I is one of my favorites both because it shows New England in the 70's as well as the performances of Ed Asner and Maureen Stapleton. The rest of the cast is also very good. If you've never seen it, it is well worth a watch!!!

Yes!! How could I forget that one!
It was released on VHS, but never on DVD. My great husband, who's a film collector, located a 16mm network print and bought it for me one Christmas! One of the greatest surprises ever!

If there's ever an MMC convention, we should definitely bring a projector and that film and ---it's so rare. A few years ago, sellers were asking (and getting!) upwards of $50 for a used VHS of this title.

Couple years ago i found it on either ebay or iOffer for like 10 bucks burned on DVD. SO if you want always check out ioffer and make someone an offer if they sale it. If i knew where my copy is i would find a way to get a copy to you.

now one thing i have to say is YES YES YES YES YES to a MMC Convention and doing a rare movie night would be lots of fun.

I saw 'Deck The Halls' for the first time yesterday (found it cheap on a bargain table). I don't think it is destined to become a classic but to a Christmas light junkie like me, I loved it!!

For What It's Worth Dept: "The Gathering" is my favorite Christmas movie. Watch it this season & see if the elegantly, simple soundtrack doesn't stick with you for days afterward.

Well one of my favourite Christmas films is Love Actually. I'm not sure if everyone see's it as a Christmas film and I'm not sure if it is popular in America. If you have not seen it then I highly recommend you do.
It focuses on ......well ....love actually

It is not a Christmas storyline as such but it is set around Christmas time. There are a few Christmas songs on the soundtrack and indirect references to Christmas though out the film.

The feeling you get at the end of the movie will make you want to cry and laugh at the same time. I watch it every Christmas eve before bed.

The Mrs. really loves "The Holiday" too, based around the Season.
