Christmas Music Help

This year, beginning with the fast approaching halfway to Christmas mark, I am going to begin compiling a list and then finding various Christmas songs for my iPod. Listening to Christmas music is one of my favorite things to do during the season. However, I've noticed that my selection is fairly limited. I have quite a few different songs, but only one or two artist singing the song. So, this year I'm going to branch out and I may need some help. The first song I'm hunting for is "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear." I have a version of Frank Sinatra singing it, but would love to have other artists. Any suggestions? Do any of you have versions you recommend?

I have my best luck going to Youtube and listening to songs, I just went there and there are dozens upon dozens of versions of "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" I have been using Youtube for my Christmas Song A Day thread almost everyday since I started. Just go there and listen to and decide if you like them.

I like Ella Fitzgerald's version of "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear"... very simple and classic.

Christmas Music

I like Youtube as well but have found some real treasures at my local library! I think many of them have a section in their CD's collection just devoted to Holiday Music...I've found some real gems..and it's free!

I have four suggestions representing three different styles of music. For a version that's based in R&B/black gospel, either Gladys Knight or Yolanda Adams versions. (I'm a little more old school, so I prefer Ms. Knight, but they're both good.) For a classical version, I love Chanticleer's take. And for a jazzy a cappella version, Take 6.

One of my Favorite versions of "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" would have to be the Barenaked Ladies.... IF you can find the full Christmas album by them everything was good.

I have to work on my list too, I had a long one but it disappeared. My daughter is going to see if she can find it back for me.
