Tips for Buying a Fresh Tree
I will do that fresh cut of the trunk.....that was my problem last Christmas.....the tree lost so many needles....even tho it was fresh....the problem was....since I didn´t cut the trunk....the tree...
What website was that from? And yes, in retrospect, I guess it usually starts in September (late September, I think), I guess I'm just use to playing the game throughout the whole month of October...I really think it ended in early November last year...and maybe in late October the year before that. So c'mon, let's face it, it's supposed to be a Fall activity!
And yes, it did take me by surprise, and I'm not prepared...I don't even have my fall decorations out yet!
I went into Walmart last night, and saw they were setting up a "Back to School" section, filling it up with all sorts of school supplies. I knew it wouldn't be long after the 4th of July when that would occur!
And yes, I consider that a "Sign" of Christmas coming soon: when school starts, it'll be full speed ahead till Christmas!
We haven't started the back to school stuff yet, when the kids start back that the big sign for me too. Full steam ahead, can't wait.

Last week at school we had two Christmas craft catalogues come through the mail. Also. a 'claim the date' announcement was made in our local paper about the community Christmas event in the local park. I can't wait!!

The first sign of Christmas here for me is...well, there doesn't have to be a lot to be honest. It's Fall/Autumn in general when I start to get excited as food prep starts around this time for me.
From about October/November things really start to speed up though and starts to get interesting.
Decorations are put up throughout the city where I live, the Christmas market stalls set up for the next 8 weeks, the open air bars, food stalls, the ginger bread house, decoration stalls with handmade products, my daughters birthday, the Coca-Cola Truck at the Mall and a recent thing that's started over the past few years is for one particular advert for the department store John Lewis.
Another Walmart update: I went to Wal-Mart yesterday, and as I pulled into the parking lot, I saw that they had taken down the outdoor swimming pool display. I went inside, and they had a display of beach towels and other summer items extremely discounted. In the "Lawn and Garden" section, there was even more summer stuff in piles at discounted prices. Having said that, there's no Autumn stuff out yet, but hey...you can tell the wheels of the season are starting to turn...
And yes, I count this as a sign of Christmas coming...

Yesterday I noticed the shops started their summer clearance sales. This is always a sure sign of things to come. As the shelves clear they will gradually be re stocked with Halloween and Christmas stuff!
One of the shops had a couple christmas giflt boxes out and the shop next door had some christmas cake moulds out! I was so excited when I saw this!
I have also noticed some christmas scented candles out too!!
