I'm not ready to boycott stores that open on Thanksgiving, not even those open all day on Thanksgiving, but I will NOT
go into stores on Thanksgiving. If I get some time on the internet, I may
do some shopping online in the hopes nobody's working that day to take my order.
I always thought those people camped outside a store were NUTS, but then it's not camping weather in my area in November. My husband said one year he did it to get THE toy for his sons. They were the only ones to have it, but he agreed it felt very much like the movie, Jingle All the Way, and he wouldn't do it again.
The economy in my area, Michigan, is still very fragile and I know people out of work who may be happy to have the seasonal job on Thanksgiving. I'm trying not to be a Scrooge about this, just think the only people who should work on Thanksgiving are in emergency services like police, fire, and hospitals.
BTW I have begun shopping (I'm always looking for the right presents)
and coupons and bargains get my attention. The trick is getting family to let me know who's reading what (yes, books get priority) and what else is a current interest.
