My Dog Sam
Dear Abby, I too was picked on when I was a child and I too turned to our dog Queenie. She always gave me love and she always listened. Bless you.
Today is our 22nd birthday here at My Merry Christmas. I'm excited for year #23 ahead!
I always count this date -- October 12th -- as our birthday because it was on this day in 1991 that I had the Christmas conversation with my 5 year old daughter, Aubree, who made me a father when I married her mother.
That conversation led to where we are today.
Aubree, by the way, is an exceptional woman of 27 now, and I cherish every moment I have with her. She is a brilliant joy in my life, a delight in every way. And she still tracks Santa with me every year.
In fact, this year will be historic because we will have my grandson in our home for Christmas, literally taking MMC to a new generation.
From those beginnings began a conversation about Christmas that has never stopped. I have retained every fax, every letter, every email and every private message and every forum post over the course of our history.
And I have learned so very much about what Christmas really is and what it means to the world.
Thank you for your ongoing support, love and merriment. The past couple of years have been a trial in so many ways, both online and offline.
I find myself coming here -- of all places I could go -- to find peace, joy, brotherhood (and sisterhood), true community and love. That thrills me more than I can say and it is the one thing I should have but never predicted for what MMC has become.
