We try to make the most of the Christmas season in December. The last couple of years, we've spent a whole day in old Montréal, dressed warmly, looking at decorations, doing some window-shopping, watching people ice skating, eating a nice meal and waiting for sundown to see the lights. That's become on of my very favourite days of the year. Late November, we'll spend a day going from store to store, just to go look at their Christmas displays, it's just so much fun!

Starting December 1st, we also watch one Christmas movie or tv special each day that I am not working in the evening (I work retail). In the evenings, we'll go out a few times walking around the area to see all the decorations. I'm really looking forward to baking some treats to give to our family members. We'll visit a couple of Christmas markets in our area. And I'll be listening to my ever-growing Christmas music playlist non-stop, which drives my husband crazy.

There's just something about the Christmas season that pulls me in

Some of my favorite activities:

1) shopping & admiring the store's displays

2) decorating my home

3) listening to Christmas music

4) baking & enjoying holiday goodies

5) wrapping gifts

6) walking/driving to enjoy Christmas displays

7) watching the holiday specials that I grew up with with my children

Snowflake My favorite things.....

I enjoy putting up the decorations, I don't do trees.
Choosing the right Holiday Cards and purchase them.
I love to watch as the decorations go up in the stores and around all the houses and the apartments, people go nuts here in Montreal.
I will also start to make my Pannetone's in late November to give away as gifts to friends, store clerks, chiro, my Toyota dealer, and at my favourite stores where I love to shop!
I don't really have family where we are close, so this year I'm off to Vermont for 5 days during the week of Christmas; I always wanted to go on a Sleigh ride, and then do a couple of Spa days, hopefully do some crosscountry skiing!
I love the music, the lights, the movies, and the all round cheer everyone seems to be giving.
These are a few things I enjoy doing during the holidays.

So hard to limit it to just a few but here I go:

Christmas music on the radio 24/7 - while I can simply listen to some on my computer or on my iPod in my car, it is nice to be able to turn it on wherever you are.

Snow. I absolutely love snow. I even like shoveling it! (weird, I know!)

Christmas Eve Mass (typically Midnight Mass) - my church changed midnight mass to roughly around 9PM so it does not have the same feel that it used to, but still pretty special.

There being some sort of Christmas movie and/or TV show/special on. Whether it is a rerun of some Christmas episode of an old sitcom or a replaying of a movie, I will do the best I can do either watch it when it airs or DVR it.

We do so many fun things in December as a family - I love this time of the year. I just bought tickets today for two of the things we always do. We take my kids to see the Polar Express, they have a meal during the show, and they have actors perform some of the movie too, while the movie is going on.

Also, we go on a Santa Train ride every year too. It's fun because we sing Christmas carols and can look at Christmas lights at the train is going. When the train arrives back at the station, there is hot chocolate and cookies awaiting for the kids. Of course they get to see Santa and get a present from him too!

Other than that, we also go to a big light display that we drive through every year and we also go to a local theater that puts on a Christmas play every year. There are several Christmas parades that we go to, with EA twirling in them as well.

I think the best part of the season most of all, is spending time with your family!

I enjoy going for a walk on winter evenings. The air is crisp and I love when my cheeks get red because of the lovely frost. And most of all, I love coming back to warm house after the walk and a mug of hot tea then tastes better than ever! ^^

I love to take walks in the evening time in December. Where I live, we usually have more than enough snow by December. The evenings when there is lots of fluffy snow falling are the best.

So many times my dog and I would walk at nights like this. We would walk by many a house with lights on and beautiful trees seen through the windows. And many times my dog would look back at me, with a smile on his face that said, "I do believe we are the luckiest Master and Dog on the planet right now"

He so loved those walks, especially when he was younger. And he loved Christmas Eve, with all the excitement. He was sure that every sound of wrapping paper being torn off a present was a present for him. He would stare at anyone who opened a present, he loved that part of the night.

I had to put him down this past July. Age and the ravages of time won out.

Rest well, my little buddy. In my heart, you'll still be by my feet, exhausted, on a late-Christmas Eve night from all the day's activities.
