What gets you through your workday?

I'm at work, with a severe case of the Mondays. I'm trying not to watch the clock for 5:30, but I can't help it! I know it makes time tick by slower, but really...I was ready to get home BEFORE I even got here. I normally am OK with my job, but today, having the extended weekend right around the corner is really making me wish the today, tomorrow, the next day and even the next was over. I'm at work right now...not even supposed to be on here! LOL and reading the boards and posting is getting me through my work day! Normally, I also listen to music. I can't bring myself to listen to Christmas music right now because it's too hot out! And it's still so far away.

What do you guys do to get through your day/night at work?

I like to read the words of those who are in the same boat as I! And you are!!!

Monday's are no fun, except when they are holidays...I have to say though, that Christmas music gets me through even the craziest of days...And you can access the station right at the top right of this page!!! Just cheers me right up everytime!~

But the weekend will be here soon...the LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGG weekend at that!!!

Today I'm in exactly the same boat you are. I've got a boatload of work that I need to be doing. I'm behind on my own work because I spent the bulk of last week setting up the new computer systems/offices/internet/e-mail for the new associate but just can't get myself worked up to tackle it.

So, I'm hanging here as a reward for getting a bit of my work done. In a few I'll do another couple of small things and then reward myself further by coming back here. I think it's the only way I'm going to get through this day without losing my mind!

They don't allow us to listen to radio, watch videos or visit a bunch of sites on our work computer. I'm surprised this one is allowed!

What gets me through the day at work, is loving my job. I'm fortunate to be doing something I look forward to. I love my time off work, naturally, but I always look forward to going back after vacations and such, sometimes I miss it (briefly) while I'm away.

I do have those kind of days though, when I'd much rather be at home with my husband and O'Malley the cat or talking with the grandkids on the phone or catching up with my Christmas chums all over the net or working on my Christmas book or my website.

I learned to do what I have to do so I can do what I want to do some years ago and like I said, I'm lucky I enjoy what I do.

I can't visit forums when I'm at work, but when they hooked up my new computer last Thursday - finally with speakers, I headed to AccuRadio for a quick Jingle fix. We have two stations locally that we are supposed to support by tuning in, but the music they're offering is the same old radio so last Friday I listened to Thayrone (Listen Now) and took in a little jazz music instead.

I hear you though, I do have days when I'd rather be home. During those days my life at home gets me through the day. Knowing that my husband and that wild thing we call a cat will be waiting for me and sharing a bit about our day, (yes O'Malley chimes in there too).

I have to admit though, my mind wanders off sometimes to the land of Christmas when I should be concentrating on other things.

What get's me through my workday?? Hmmmm...I was going to say RUM, but I thought I'd give an honest, straight answer.

What gets me through my workday is the fact that my job is not what defines me. Yes, I go to work and I am busy all day. I am quite happy at 5 o'clock when I can go home. To be honest, I don't love my job. I work for a totally insane director who can go from calm to screaming at the drop of a hat. My direct boss is the same way. Every day I go to work wondering which one is going to be screaming that day. Some times it is both. What gets me through the day and helps me deal with the screaming banshees I work with, is going home to my husband, my dog Buddy and my cat Kimmi. If it weren't for them, I would probably smack someone and lose my job.
