Christmas TogetherWe're here year round and even though we are scattered all over the world and most of us have never met face-to-face we find ways to celebrate the season together. From our annual Christmas exchanges to scheduled chats our Christmasing together is discussed here.

Tips for Buying a Fresh Tree
I will do that fresh cut of the trunk.....that was my problem last Christmas.....the tree lost so many needles....even tho it was fresh....the problem was....since I didnīt cut the trunk....the tree...
I have applied for a new job! It's a variation on an original theme (same job, different local government), more money (always handy) but a completely unknown quantity. I applied on the grounds of "what have I got to lose". I haven't a clue if I'll get on with the others, don't know how I'll get to work, don't know if I've done the right thing (I've been in my current job for 17 years although in January I was transferred to another office without consultation which irritated me not a small amount!)
BUT..........I sent the application off on Friday, told my boss who said she would do everything in her power to scupper my application (I think that's a compliment!!) and when I got in the car to go shopping on Friday night, I turned on the radio and "Sleigh Bells" was playing. On mainstream radio. In June. Over the course of the weekend, on a request show they played "Last Christmas" by Wham and there have been 2 unscheduled Christmas episodes on TV.
Thanks for all your good wishes and advice, guys!! Don't even know if I'll get as far as an interview but modesty aside, I've got more than they're looking for. I've also kept a couple of aces up my sleeve for the interview!!
Jeff - how right you are. My motto in life is "Waffle with confidence"!! Basically, as long as you give everybody else the impression you know what you're doing even if you haven't a clue, that's the important thing. People don't feel secure with "umm, well, I'm not sure......" Even if you fin out you are completely wrong, it can always be corrected with "you know, I've been thinking about it and I now think THIS would be the best way to deal with whatever" Confidence!!!!
Jonathan - love it!!! I think it depends on the interviewers but I could definitely get away with that type of thing. I'm considered an outspoken oddity over here - being Canadian definitely has its advantages at times!!!
I left it until the very last minute. Spent all Thursday night working on it and sent it off (it was an online application) first thing Friday morning, which was the closing date.
