I took my 10-year-old niece to see it on Monday. She enjoyed the romance part. She asked some good questions about it and she understood that the movie was delivering a message.
I agree that it was a movie of a warning nature. I didn't find out until later that Shelby wanted to see Journey to the Centre of the Earth, if I had researched it, I might have taken her to see it instead.
I'm not disappointed that I went, it had it's good parts. I laughed a bit. It wasn't worth $40.00 to see it though. The admission and snacks cost is way over-priced. Although, this movie in my opinion, was directed at the adults in the audience, I think adults should pay children's rates when they are going to movies that are geared to children or rated Family.
And Maureen - stay clear of it, you'll get all choked up for sure. How animated anything can stir up our emotions is a wonder. There was a scene near the end that was touching, even for Robots.
I am impressed by the work that goes into movies these days, but earlier animated films will always have a special place in my heart. If I never see the movie Bambi (I know Disney) again, I'll still remember the scenes that brought me to tears.
One of my favourite Pixar movies was Toy Story (and Toy Story II). I loved it when Mr. Potato Head reached into his storage spot and pulled out his angry eyebrows. I never laughed so much. Great scene.
