We have a Hobby Lobby in our area and they have already begun to display Christmas items along with Thanksgiving items as well.

I can't wait until all the stores start displaying Christmas items in full force. I AM STOKED!!

Yeah Hobby Lobby has had stuff out since June. Still cool though.

Walmart did not have any Christmas stuff, nor scarcely any Halloween stuff out last night. I imagine that by this weekend most of the Halloween stuff will be out because you can see it on top of the ailes waiting.

Hi from a fellow Arkie Christmas fanatic!

Yup, Hobby Lobby had out Christmas stuff before they had out Halloween stuff. Our Wal-Mart is clearing out the Lawn and Garden center right now and should have stuff out by the end of this week.

The department store Harrods in London opened it's Christmas shop all fully stocked and ready to go on August 5th! I can't wait to go see it but I'm waiting till at least October 1st because that's the day that Selfridges (another top UK dept store) opens it's christmas shop.

I think most others will probably be the beginning of October over here.

Items for decorating and crafts go out on shelves long before the gift items do.

Lights and outdoor decorations should be going out any time now. Given the touchy economy, we may see stores put those items out even earlier so that folks see it, and have an extra payday or two to purchase those items before they start focusing solely on gifts. Decorations that don't sell either have to be stored for a year or sold at a huge discount and merchants may be trying to avoid that.

To those counting the days Christmas may seem far away, but go through it again and count the number of paydays between now and then and you get an idea of what retailers are up against.
