My wife and I went with her sister-in-law and her friends last year. We sat in line at Best Buy for about 3 hours in 10 degree weather. But we still had a lot of fun. We didn't go very prepared since it was our first time, so we froze in the beginning lol. Then we went to a Meijer near by and bought some extra clothes to warm up lol.

We haven't decided if we'll do it this year, but it's possible.

I've worked a few when I worked at Staples. **** mad house. I would rather pay the extra 10-15 bucks and sleep in.

Actually, it's one of my favorite days - but, it really has to be planned to be fun. My SIL and I sit with the sales papers after Thanksgiving dinner, map out our route and get organized.
We get up at 4:00 am, rush to Starbucks which has opened for us, line up at our first store, chat with the other shoppers and try to have fun. We generally just rush in once the doors open, grab what one thing we want at that store, pay and rush out. It's the same story at all the other stores we go to - but we find these things make it fun for us:
We crank up the Christmas music and sing in between store visits
Never get upset at the grumpy people - just wish them a happy holiday (especially those working)
Plan a few coffee/snack breaks so we won't get tired
Pack a survival kit (aspirin, water, pens, notebook, calculator, bandaids - yes sometimes you get run over by a cart - wet wipes, chocolate....)
Get to your favorite restaurant for lunch right before the rush and debrief to make sure you got what you want - if you stay out much longer, the tired could settle in and make you grumpy and you don't want that.

My Black Friday is very simular to PKCrafty's. My wife started doing this in 1998. She ended up on TV on our local news. Being the first people in the store at Walmart to get several tv's for our then small children. We get together on Thanksgiving evening and plan our routes to the differenct stores. We meet up that morning around 4 am and the rest is history. This is a big tradition for us. We get a lot of shopping done that day. We can't wait for that day!

I use to but no longer do I do it. I also hate it! To many long lines, the weather is freezing and by the time you make it through the door the "good buy" you were there to get are no longer. I was also told on certain items that the stores only carry so many of these. So by the time most of us make it in they are gone. It's just not worth it to me.

No, but I do know my sister-in-law does just about every year. Black Friday is the day we go to pick out a live tree.

I never got into Black Friday. I christmas shop earlier in the year -- so I don't bother getting up early and going out -- I hate getting up early!
